At Lithograf, we want your artwork to remain a beautiful and lasting addition to your home for years to come. Here are some pro tips on how to hang and care for your artwork.

Hanging Your Artwork

  • Hanging Options: Consider using a French cleat or a D-ring hanger for secure and adjustable hanging. For heavier pieces, use two hanging points for added stability.

  • Wall Type: Use a stud finder to locate the wall studs, especially for heavier pieces. For drywall, use anchors or screws specifically designed for drywall.

  • Leveling: Ensure the artwork is level using a bubble level or a laser level. This will prevent the piece from tilting or becoming uneven.

Care and Maintenance

  • Direct Sunlight: Keep your artwork out of direct sunlight, which can cause fading or discoloration over time. If possible, place your artwork in a spot with filtered or indirect sunlight.

  • Dampness: Avoid hanging your artwork in areas prone to dampness, such as bathrooms or kitchens. High humidity can cause warping, mold, or mildew.

  • Temperature: Keep your artwork away from extreme temperatures, such as near heating vents, radiators, or air conditioning units.

  • Dust and Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to dust your artwork. For more thorough cleaning, mix 1 part white vinegar with 2 parts water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution onto a soft cloth, and gently wipe the glazing. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.

  • Glazing Protection: Our UV-protected glazing helps prevent fading and damage from sunlight. However, it's still important to handle the glazing with care. Avoid touching the glazing, as oils from your skin can leave fingerprints or smudges.

Additional Tips

  • Avoid Direct Heat: Don't place your artwork near candles, fireplaces, or other sources of direct heat.

  • Handle with Care: When handling your artwork, wear gloves to prevent oils from your skin from coming into contact with the print or glazing.

  • Storage: If you need to store your artwork, wrap it in acid-free paper or a breathable cloth, and place it in a sturdy box or container. Avoid storing your artwork in areas prone to dampness or extreme temperatures.
